We finally kept a Needles daughter and a Troubadour daughter. Needles and Troubadour kids are in high demand. It was time for Mamm-Key to keep some replacement kids. Needles has great dairy components. So far her life time average is 1392 days with 19940 milk, 798 pounds of fat and 629 pounds of protein. That’s 15 pounds a day and 4% butterfat. Chalice has the angular deep body and great strength of bone and width to go with it. She has tight toes and deep heels. Needles has come down on her pasterns at age 7, so we will need to watch Chalice for that. She is looking good so far. Chalice is blends smoothly into the neck and shoulders, with a beautiful top line. We’d like to see her more level from hips to pins. That can improve as she matures. She tracks straight and is wide between the hocks. Troubadour is our biggest buck easily 300 pounds. He has National champions in his pedigree and breed leaders, Amie being one of our 5000 pound milkers. She’s very social and is a joy to have in our herd.
